BioAgora is looking for experts interested in participating in the online workshop “Incentivising voluntary contributions by EU businesses to benefit-sharing mechanisms”, which will be held on the 2nd of September 2026 (10:00 - 12:30 CEST).
The aim is to better understand how to mobilise company contributions towards the Cali Fund, including the enabling governance conditions necessary to foster meaningful and sustained contributions from the private sector. The workshop is organised to address a knowledge request issued by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment (DG ENV). Workshop participants will be invited to co-author the final report, which will directly support the Commission in their preparations for COP17 Armenia and the related work beyond the conference.
We are particularly interested in participants with expertise in:
- private sector voluntary engagement with biodiversity funds
- benefit-sharing mechanisms (such as the Cali Fund)
- the use of Digital Sequence Information (DSI)
- rights, participation and benefit-sharing related to Indigenous Peoples and local communities
If you are interested in participating, please contact Dalia D'Amato-Pihlman, PhD and Senior Research Scientist at the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) via this email: dalia.damato-pihlman@syke.fi
