As part of its efforts to develop a Science Service for Biodiversity (SSBD) at the EU level, BioAgora has launched two new Calls seeking knowledge holders specialised in:
- private sector voluntary engagement with biodiversity funds
- (multilateral) benefit-sharing mechanisms (such as the Cali Fund)
- the use of Digital Sequence Information (DSI)
This call responds to a knowledge request from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment (DG ENV) for a better understanding of how to incentivise and mobilise company contributions towards the Cali Fund, including the enabling governance conditions necessary to foster meaningful and sustained contributions from the private sector.
Selected submissions will provide foundational input which will be synthesised in an expert focus group workshop. The process will result in a report on incentives and transformative policy options to strengthen the sustained engagement of the private sector. The findings will directly support the European Commission in their preparations for COP17 Armenia and related work beyond the conference.
In this context, BioAgora is specifically seeking information on relevant initiatives, EU and other projects, existing tools and databases, scientific publications, grey literature or other key sources that align with the objectives of the aforementioned request.
A dedicated survey has been established to gather contributions associated with this process:
- a Call for Knowledge, through which relevant evidence, information and resources on the topic can be submitted
- a Call for Expression of Interest, where one's willingness to participate in the expert group supporting the knowledge synthesis can be indicated
The survey allows for either or both sections to be filled out. The submission deadline is 14 August 2026.
