BioAgora to Co-Host Side Events at the 2024 United Nations Conference for Biodiversity (COP16)

16 Dec 2024 / Events

Four Horizon Europe-funded projects – CO-OP4CBDBioAgoraRESPIN, and Biodiversa+, will play a central role in the upcoming UN Convention on Biological Diversity (UN CBD COP16), taking place from 21 October to 1 November 2024 in Cali, Colombia!

These projects will host two side events at the EU Pavilion, designed to explore how the Science-Policy Interface (SPI) can strengthen biodiversity conservation efforts, particularly in relation to the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM-GBF).

The first event, scheduled for 25 October 2024, will focus on integrating science into policy frameworks to enhance the implementation of KM-GBF. The event will focus on Science-Policy Interfaces (SPIs), highlighting the contributions of integrating scientific research into policy frameworks to advance the implementation of the CBD and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM-GBF) more specifically.

The event will take place on-site at 15:30 – 17:00 (GMT-5), and it will have two expert sessions on the topic of the importance of the SPI for biodiversity and how researchers and policymakers can achieve efficient coordination in the field of evidence-based policies for biodiversity.

On these side events BioAgora will be represented by project partners Ute Jacob and Lluis Brotons, whose participation plays an essential role for the dialogue about the state-of-affairs in the field of the SPI for biodiversity and the possible ways for improving the connection between researchers and policymakers in this field.
