Do you have information on EU projects, tools, databases, initiatives, scientific and grey publications, or key sources that are relevant to plant species suitable for urban and peri-urban greening and nature restoration?

BioAgora launches a dedicated Call for Knowledge to support the development of a scientific framework for selecting suitable plant species for urban and peri-urban greening and nature restoration across different EU regions and territorial contexts under changing climate conditions.

The request is issued by the European Commission Directorate-General for Environment (DG ENV) and builds on key EU policy frameworks, including the Nature Restoration Regulation (NRR) and the EU Pollinators Initiative, committed to developing comprehensive guidelines for pollinator-friendly native plants.

Contribution and gathered expertise will support the creation of guidelines for native vegetation enhancing pollinator habitats, as well as the establishment of a future EU-wide knowledge framework and plant species selection platform.

The call targets:

  • Knowledge holders specialised in plant species (including native species) for greening and restoration in urban and peri-urban areas, pollinators and ecosystem services

  • Researchers working on tree-based and regulation services

  • Practitioners in urban and peri-urban greening and nature restoration

Aim:

By contributing to this call, you are providing foundational scientific input for building a knowledge base and supporting the expert group’s activities, which will ultimately underpin a future EU-level information tool and selection platform. Contributions may include information on:

  • relevant EU projects and initiatives

  • existing tools, databases

  • scientific publications

  • grey literature or other relevant sources that align with the objectives of the requests.

Experts who contribute can choose to be credited in the final overview knowledge report and can also express interest in being contacted for future updates as the knowledge base grows.

Apply for the call for knowledge until 13 May 2026! The application form can be found here.
