BioAgora Survey on the Role of Citizen Science in Biodiversity Policy

09 May 2025 / General News

As part of the ongoing work within BioAgora, a brief but strategically significant survey focused on the role of citizen science in biodiversity-related policy processes has been launched. This activity is conducted under Task 5.4, which addresses the policy impact of citizen science and contributes directly to BioAgora’s central objective to co-create of a Science Service for Biodiversity (SSBD).

The survey aims to gather insights from individuals and projects engaged in citizen science activities, with a specific focus on how these initiatives interact with and inform policy processes at various governance levels. Understanding these dynamics is critical to identifying the conditions under which citizen-generated knowledge can contribute meaningfully to biodiversity governance.

The collected responses will:

  • Support the synthesis of empirical experiences and institutional barriers
  • Inform recommendations for improving science–policy interfaces
  • Contribute to the conceptual and operational development of the SSBD
