On 18 March 2026, the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) hosted the hybrid event “How can the nature-based solutions approach help build sustainable food systems?”. Held in Brussels, the session was organised as part of the NetworkNature project and targeted European policy-makers and stakeholders involved in the agricultural sector. As such, it was an occasion for insightful discussions on best practices and approaches to ensuring sustainability across food chains.

Myriam Dumortier, a BioAgora consortium member from the Research Institute for Nature and Forest (INBO), was a featured speaker in the event’s agenda. Her presentation revolved around the progress of the project in developing the Science Service for Biodiversity (SSBD), a European mechanism for connecting policy needs to existing scientific research. Specifically, she discussed the emergence of a Knowledge Exchange Network on agro-ecosystems as part of the SSBD framework. In this relation, Myriam provided details on the support that experts in the field can provide by participating in the Science Service’s process for answering knowledge requests made by policy-makers.
