Last month saw the 57th General Assembly of the Consortium of European Taxonomic Facilities (CETAF). This year’s edition took place in Luxembourg between 15 and 16 May and was hosted by the French Musée national d’histoire naturelle (MNHNL). The conference was marked by record-breaking attendance and active engagement by participants who were eager to collaborate on planning for the future of taxonomic science in Europe.
BioAgora was represented at the event by Marie Vandewalle of the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ). She participated in a panel discussion on the taxonomic community, a session that sought insights on where the role and responsibility of that broad group of biodiversity experts truly lie. The ensuing discussion highlighted the need for integrating differing relevant skillsets and diverse experiences into a joint collaborative paradigm in the field of EU taxonomy.
