About Methods KEN

The Methods Knowledge Exchange Network (MKEN) is meant to support and enhance the design, delivery and evaluation of robust and efficient methods in response to both urgent (within 3-6 months) and standard (within 6-12 months) knowledge requests made to BioAgora as part of the establishment of the Science Service for Biodiversity (SSBD).

The MKEN forms part of a wider network of Knowledge Exchange Networks in the project and will bring together methodological experts and practitioners in a structured community of practice, fostering knowledge exchange, co-creatio, and capacity building to improve methodological design and execution at the science-policy interface for biodiversity.

In that sense, this Network is not just a project output, but a lasting infrastructure: it supports the development of the SSBD, fosters peer learning and ensures methodological innovation, remaining grounded in real-world needs. Members contribute voluntarily, represent a wide range of disciplines and sectors and are united by a common goal: to make science more responsive, transparent and actionable for decision-makers - now and into the future.

The aims of the MKEN are to:

1. strengthen the methodological robustness and relevance of requests at the science-policy interface for biodiversity

2. support the co-design and testing of knowledge synthesis methods and approaches in the M4Nature project, particularly for urgent biodiversity-related policy requests

3. enable knowledge exchange across research, practice and policy communities

4. contribute to long-term uptake, impact and project legacy
