On 11 and 12 October 2023, BioAgora partners met in Leipzig, Germany for the second face-to-face Consortium meeting. This two-day event was built around ten prospected functions of the future EU Science Service for Biodiversity (SSBD). Partners eagerly exchanged and discussed each function that are currently under scrutiny to support setting up the SSBD. They explored ways to ensure its effectiveness in bringing transformative change for biodiversity.
BioAgora’s consortium meeting was a long-awaited opportunity for all project partners to meet in person and exchange ideas, participate in useful sessions, and collaborative exercises and have fun. The team pushed the interactivity to a whole new level with no less than 10 interactive sessions both for on-site and online participants. The work was intensive and the session leaders were very pleased with the outcomes and have a lot of material to take back home.
This meeting proved once again that creativity and collaboration are essential to finding the best way to connect biodiversity knowledge and decision-making. It is now time for all of us to build upon the results that were generated during the meeting. Always keeping in mind our main objective: Ratcheting up the implementation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030!
What are the next steps?
Among the main tasks to be carried out in the coming months, the team will continue testing the SSBD functions and building an improved framework. The next demonstration cases, used to test the functions, will also be selected. In parallel, the work on developing the SSBD web-platform is on-going.
